Boro do not do anything in an easy way!! Brentwood coming mightily close to causing an FA Cup upset . Having started brightly Brentwood took the lead after just 3 minutes when former Boro player Ayrton Colley crossed for Carter to put the ball beyond the despairing dive of Pajetat . Boro stung into action then equalised after only 5 minutes when George Aresti scored his first for the Club with a magnificent drive from fully 20 yards giving Brentwood keeper Budd no chance.
Boro then proceeded to dominate possession but the Brentwood defence held firm with another former Boro player Gordon marshalling his defence superbly and the excellent Budd repelling any other danger . In fact it was Colley for Brentwood who had the best chance when he fired over from close range after some clever footwork. 1-1 at half time.
Boro again continued to dominate possession after the restart however despite the dangerous Ademiluyi sending in a number of crosses no Boro player could provide the necessary finishing touch . In fact Brentwood came more into the game after the introduction of substitute Joseph who’s pace and power started to create problems for the Boro defence.
One such surge down the wing led to Colley finishing in top class fashion with a curled effort that flew past Pajetat on 80 minutes. That appeared to be that as Boro huffed and puffed but in the 89 minute substitute Mckenzie continued his incredible start to the season finishing with some style after good approach play by Ademiluyi . 2-2 and Boro looked like they had secured a replay . However Akinwande of Boro had other ideas and with the very last kick of the game rifled in a shot from the edge of the box again after a fine pass by Ademiluyi . Much to the relief of all concerned with the Boro including the large following of dedicated supporters . Rough justice for Brentwood who gave their all and nearly pulled off a surprise win but it’s Boro who go into the hat for Mondays draw.
