Boro quickly put behind them the disappointment of Friday nights Emirates FA Cup defeat by Wimbledon with an emphatic win against a tough and well organised Tonbridge side. Boro started well and looked dangerous particularly down the right side and with Olufemi and Ademiluyi linking well it seemed as though the breakthrough was imminent. The Tonbridge back line was very durable and well organised and no clear cut chances were created in the opening exchanges. On 22 minutes after a partially cleared corner Rakim Richards struck a sweet left foot half volley into the bottom corner. The goal sparked an immediate reaction from Tonbridge who created a number of half chances and a couple of clear chances. Forward Alex Read missing from close range and Pajetat pulling off an unbelievable point blank save as half time approached . 1-0 Boro half time .
The second half followed much the same pattern with Tonbridge searching for an equaliser . At the other end Ademiluyi forced a fine save from Henly and from the resultant corner Boro doubled their lead when Rowe headed in unmarked at the far post .Tonbridge did not give in and searched hard for a way back into the game however shortly after Richards cleared on the goal line Rowe struck an unstoppable shot from 25 yards and in the last minute sub Aresti finished off a fantastic move when he calmly slotted in from close range to flatter Boro but ultimately gain 3 points for the first time since the defeat of Margate on 29 September . Onwards and upwards hopefully as Boro now seek to rise up the table after the ending of their Cup exploits.
