A hard fought match ended level at the end of 90 penalties leading to a penalty shoot out, which Boro won 5-4.
Despite AFC Wimbledon fielding a number of first-team squad players Haringey matched them for the duration of the game, creating a number of chances. It wasn’t until the 59th minute that the deadlock was broken when Andronicos Georgiou weaved his way through the Wimbledon defence and slotted home. It was nearly two immediately after when Bobson Bawling hit the post.
Wimbledon equalised in the 76 minute which set up a frantic end to the game with both teams looking for a winner, when this didn’t arrive it was left to penalties to settle the tie.
Big credit to Lamar Johnson on his debut who got his hands to a couple of the penalties and whose presence clearly assisted in the penalty that hit the post and sailed over!
Our penalty heroes who all scored were (in order)
Roman Michael-Percil
Scott Mitchell
Ade Cole
Christos Djamas
Callum Ismail
In the next round we will play Tooting and Mitchem with a provisional date of the 11th January 2022.
