Boro3 Whitehawk 0

With results going their way Boro extended their lead at the top of the table to 8 points with a comfortable if not overly impressive win against a young but technically gifted Whitehawk side. Despite their position at the foot of the table Whitehawk have a very pleasing attitude to the way football should be played and were not overawed buy the physicality of the Boro side and tried to play the ball along the ground making the opening exchanges pleasurable to all including the Whitehawk following .With the pace of the Boro forward line an open end to end game suits their style and from one such move Mcdonald was on hand to finish right back Richards fine raid down the Whitehawk left after only 13 minutes. More chances were created and spurned by both sides and it wasn’t until the 37 minute when GabrieI added a second that Boro could afford to relax a little. Gabriel fashioned the chance initially himself when he broke clear down the left and crossed for Mcdonald who’s misplaced shot ricocheted off the Whitehawk defender back into the path of Gabriel who made no mistake from just a couple of yards out.2-0 Boro at halftime. The second half was much the same as to the credit of the young Whitehawk side they came out with renewed energy seeking to get back into the game . Only a failure in the final third and some solid defending from the Boro rearguard prevented any serious alarms. Eventually the strength of Boro told and more chances were fashioned including an astonishing third goal from Substitute Akinwande who scored his 3rd goal in his last 3 outings with a thunderbolt from 20 yards on 67 minutes. Again more chances were created but with Minter in fine form in the visitors goal including an excellent penalty save in the 90 minute from Nouble’s effort there were no more goals.
